Where to Buy Mental Patient Fancy Dress Costume?

Breaking news: in the UK top supermarkets Asda and Tesco have withdrawn their mental patient fancy dress costumes from sale after a barrage of protests!

After going on sale in the two supermarket chains, these unsavoury costumes drew a massive backlash of protests from the public as well as prominent mental health charities such as Mind.

Where Can I Buy the Mental Patient Fancy Dress Costume?

Since the items were removed from sale at the stores in question, people have been turning to the Internet to find them. The adverse publicity has now made these costumes highly desirable must have for Halloween this year!

You can find the following costumes at these online stores:

While it's not an exact match for the one withdrawn from Asda, there is a strikingly scary Men's Zombie Doctor Costume on sale at Amazon.co.uk. This one includes Shirt with Rotten Chest Attached, Trousers with Rotten Knee, Zombie Mask, Surgical Mask, Cap and Gloves.

You can click the image to the left to get all the information on this costume (UK customers) and the current price, which you will find surprisingly affordable once you open the page after clicking the image and see it for yourself!

For US customers, here is the link to the same costume on sale at Amazon.com:

Asda

The Asda outfit included horror clothing, fake blood, a terror mask and a fake meat cleaver. It was priced at just £20.

The description was: "Everyone will be running away from you in fear in this mental patient fancy dress costume. Comprising of a torn blood stained shirt, blood stained plastic meat cleaver and gory facemask it’s a terrifying Halloween option."

In a statement on Wednesday evening, Asda, which is owned by US retail giant Walmart, said the sale had been a "completely unacceptable error. [The costume] should never have been sold and it was withdrawn as soon as it was brought to our attention."

Asda added: "We're deeply sorry one of our fancy dress costumes has upset people."

Apparently the costume in question had been on sale via Asda's clothing outlet George. It was available for two days before it was withdrawn from sale on Wednesday morning after being noticed internally.

Tesco

The Tesco outfit sported an orange boiler suit and offered a fake machete to "complete the look." A Tesco spokesperson has said: "We're really sorry for any offence this has caused and we are removing this product from sale."

The "Psycho Ward Adult Costume" was on sale at Tesco for £18.45 from its online store before being removed from the website.

Concerns

Katie Dalton, of mental health charity Gofal, tweeted: "Dear @asda, how on earth did you come to the conclusion that this is an appropriate fancy dress costume? Disgraceful."

The charity Rethink Mental Illness got onto Twitter to tweet it was "stunned" by the costume's description, but later thanked Asda "for responding" to the "concerns".

There has been so much uproar over these costumes that it is good to see consumer pressure can force major retail outlets like these to do an about turn and remove offending items from sale.

A Look at Witch Costumes for Halloween

As unbelievable as it may seem, Halloween is only eight short weeks away already and that time is set to shrink rapidly the closer we get. So let's look at one of the quintessential aspects of that particular seasonal holiday which is the original reason why it exists and why people love to dress up in witch costumes for Halloween.

It seems like the summer only just got going and those hot, balmy days and nights meant parties by the pool and barbecues on the patio or terrace. And now we're at the end of August already looking down the barrel of the Fall months as September is upon us.

Start Looking Now!

That means if you want to be wearing the latest, best and most exclusive witch costumes for this season, you had better get online and be doing your research NOW!

That's because the best costumes tend to sell out sooner than the rest. And if you really have your eye on a particular design that isn't going to resemble the run of the mill outfits that everyone else is going to be wearing at this years mega party, then you want to be doing your ordering as soon as you can.

But that is beside the point as we were going to look at why we want to dress up as a witch on Halloween.

Be a Witch!

Of course, the holiday itself is a pagan celebration of the Wiccan date of All Hallows Eve, which is an important one on the calendar for all practicing witches. Now, most real witches do not go dressing up in long black gowns, wearing pointy hats and riding through the night on a broomstick! You can find out more about witches at www.witchniche.com if you're interested.

They are more likely quite ordinary looking people who probably live in your street and work at normal jobs so you wouldn't even know it that they were in any way associated with the wholly natural religion of Wicca.

Witches are also generally good people who use their knowledge of nature and the natural world to live in harmony and peace with the world. It seems a much better way than everyone else who is scrabbling over each other to grab whatever they can get whether they need it or not!

So spare a thought for the real reason for Halloween and remember that you are dressing up in the theatrical image of a witch as portrayed more by Hollywood than reality, like so much of life tends to be these days! Have a great party!

Halloween Musings

OK, I know its only August, but even in the heat of summer, thoughts sometimes turn to the cooler and darker and longer nights that come with the ending of October. That's the time that brings us up to one of the big nights of the social calendar, Halloween!

So what are you going to be doing about this festive and interesting occasion this year? If you don't have anything planned just yet, you might want to start thinking about it now, because its scary how fast the times goes and before you know it, its getting close to the time.

Party Time!

If you are considering hosting a Halloween party, then you should start making lists of the things you'll need now in preparation for getting your orders in early. You want to do this to avoid disappointment because stuff sells out pretty quick and the best stuff always sells out first!

The last thing you want is to be stuck with all the stuff that other people didn't want! If you are thinking about dressing up in a cool outfit for the party, or you want to get the kids some great outfits for trick or treat, you need to start checking out the online stores about now because they already have stocks in and the best costumes are going to be in short supply once everyone else starts putting in their orders!

What Outfit to Wear?

So what do you want to dress up as? There are some really great pirate, Gothic or medieval outfits that you can choose from. Or how about being really outlandish and going for one of the sexy devil costumes that are available?

Some of them are totally hot!

For the kids, you might want to check out with them what they think is the hottest characters for this year. That's because what they think is cool and what you think is cool will probably be totally different!

One great way to get some ideas is to take a look at what major movies have recently come out and if they have strong main characters that kids are associating with. Or check out the current TV series for those your kids are watching and if there are obvious heroes they may want to emulate for Trick or Treat.

Whatever you do and how ever you celebrate this interesting festive evening, make sure you have a great time and everyone enjoys it to the fullest!

Witches and Wizards Theme for a Halloween Costume Party

This Halloween, which let's face it is a mere eleven weeks away, if you are planning on having a fancy dress party with a witch theme, you might want to get started with the preparations right now. That's because eleven weeks will soon pass and the night itself will be upon you before you know it!

A fancy dress party for Halloween with a witches and wizards theme is not complete without people coming dressed in all manner of wizard and witch costumes of as many different types as can be imagined. Now you might think that is going to be a little different, because a witch is, well a witch, right? Wrong!

Choice of Outfits

There are huge collections of cool costumes available to buy or hire over the Internet this year. With many sites displaying their wares to a public that seems never to be satiated by the ever growing selection of styles and designs that get more clever and more creative as we go, you are not going to be disappointed at creating a party with as many different outfits as there are people.

You don't need to even restrict it to just the main character types either. Some people will want to push the envelope a little and turn up as demons, imps and devils along with other sinister looking variations. You can set the theme and leave it to the imagination of the guests to fill the blanks.

Keeping with Tradition

Remember that the whole idea behind Halloween is to celebrate the important Wiccan date of All Hallows Eve, and that the Hollywood idea of what a witch should look like is very different from the reality. But that won't stop everyone from wanting to dress in the dark capes and black pointy hats complete with hazel broomstick in tow ready for that quick getaway on the stroke of midnight to fly away into the full moon cackling at the inability of the police to stop them for drink flying!

Well, it's supposed to be a fun time and that's exactly what it will be with everyone having a great time.

You probably won't get too much of savvy witches exchanging their secrets of where they got their exclusive outfit this year. But you might get some knowing nods from those that took the time to do some real research online and secure the best of the bunch before the store sold out.

So have a great time this Halloween and remember that all good witches should get safely home after the party so lay on some cabs for those that have one or two drinks too many and can't climb onto their broomsticks.

A Look at Classic Halloween Costumes for Kids

Have you ever noticed how inventive and often amazing kids Halloween costumes have gotten over the years? Here's something that might interest you, then, since you're doubtless reading this with that time of the year in mind.

So let's kick this site off with a look at what has to be the most important side of Halloween, getting the kids dressed up in their costumes and ready for Trick or Treat!

When you think Halloween, you naturally imagine groups of kids going around on Trick or Treat trying their level best to scare the life out of their neighbors and having a great time in the process. It's all down to the costumes they are wearing and you know this year those costumes just seem to have gotten even better than I ever remember them being.

Going for the Classics

There are some really excellent kids classic Halloween costumes that you can get by following that link to a site that specializes in scary outfits not just for kids but for the adults too! But this post is all about the kids, so let's stick to that shall we!

I was looking around for something for my own kids to wear and in the stores they have aisle after aisle decked out in the most impossibly good costumes with latex rubber masks and hands to really enhance the look of the clothing, which I have to say is excellent. The makeup is truly excellent too and in the hands of a skilled mom, an ordinary kid can be transformed into the most horrific sight you ever beheld!

The Scarier the Better

And that is exactly what today's kids want to come over as. Super gruesome and scary so that not just the neighbors get a shock, but also so they can compete with their friends to see who can look the most awful and cool at the same time!

This is a great time of the year and the October 31 is getting closer all the while, believe it or not. With little more than three months to go, if you haven't gotten your kids their costumes for Trick or Treat yet, you had better get a move on cause the stores sell out pretty fast the closer you get to the spooky eve and you really do not want to disappoint the kids!

Not unless you want to be the target of all the tricks they have probably gotten up their sleeves, anyway...
